Crime in Tampa going up?

Recently, the group from SE Seminole Heights had an email discussion regarding crime and prostitution in their area. Interestingly enough, up until now, TPD has seen drastic reductions in crime and, to be quite honest, prostitution was almost non-existant. From the group, Jane Castor, the Asst. Chief of Police sent a response stating “If you are not aware, most of the city is struggling with burglaries, including kick-ins, air conditioner (copper) thefts and sheds. Please be aware and report suspicious activity or individuals who do not belong in your neighborhood.” Until now, the city has seen major decreases in crime since Chief Hogue was appointed. Does this mean we will for the first time see an increase in crime throughout the city?
