Has TPD already gone back to their old ways? (Wasn’t this predicted?)

This afternoon, I received the following email. If you recall, many commenters had predicted how the prostitution/TPD issue would play out. It appears that one scenario may be happening according to the comments below.

____________EMAILED SUNDAY 11-2-08_____________

Good afternoon Blogger, Please post this email at your earliest. This morning on the way to church, we were traveling west on Hillsborough Ave. Mind you this was
9am. You could not believe the working girls that were out working the corners. As we headed south on Nebraska, the girls were out in force.

Recently, we met with TPD and they presented their “dog and pony” show. The few days that followed garnered probably more arrest than had been made year to date. As we all applauded the efforts and praised the hard work, many people said “let’s wait and see, TPD will quietly sneak back to their lazy ways of doing nothing.” Or “They city doesn’t care if SH rids itself of hookers, at least they are contained to one area.” I had hoped that neither of these statements were true. However, I now believe that this may be the case.

After this morning’s eye opening trip down Nebraska, I decided to log on the arrest records site and see how active TPD has remained. IT APPEARS THEY HAVE ALREADY GIVEN UP! Maybe if they could remain consistent for once, we could actually put a dent into the problem. Instead they choose to hit it hard for a weekend or two they quietly return to obscurity.

How can we hold TPD to task? Why can’t the keep pressure on indefinitely until the problem is solved? What must we do to hold the responsible and accountable for solving the prostitution problem. Is more than two weekends too much to ask? Do you think that they load their children up for church only to drive by hooker after hooker?

I am at my wits end and tired of having to shield my children of this. At a recent neighborhood party, one person suggested filing a class action lawsuit. Is this the answer? Do we call for new leadership of TPD? After all, these officers and leaders are paid by our tax dollars. Shouldn’t we have say if they remain employed?

Who’s the bigger liar?

This week, most Americans will have a very important decision to make as we go to the polls. For many, the vote has already be cast. For others, Tuesday will prove to be one of the most important dates in American history. As we participate in one of the most important elections of our country, it is interesting to look back at one of the most memorable campaigns of our time. It is really sad that we have to base much of our decision on who to trust more. Who lied the least? Which one is more honest? Recently, Newsweek put together a really interesting piece on some of the most memorable lies, stretches of the truth and more. I found this article to be very helpful in debunking many of the statements, ads and accusations.
Enjoy the read.
