south seminole; the one neighborhood of seminole heights with no drama and no backstabbing.

    …and No activity!

    No…#2, not true.

So.Sem Hts is peaceful and non-backstabbing because Gary Elsworth, the President of SSHCA is a classy guy and knows how to stay above the fray. And no one can accuse him of not being committed to working for his neighborhood. He’s another dedicated citizen who spends loads of time downtown at Council meetings, etc. He works very hard for Seminole Heights!

Yes, Pres Gary is unlike Pres Jeff in that respect. Agreed.

True number 2 but he is a one man show over there.

Hey #4, you just couldn’t help yourself, could you? Troll alert.

  7. Anonymous says:

    Troll Speaks Truth.

  8. Anonymous says:

    Troll shows ass.

  9. Anonymous says:

That’s more than we’ve seen from the OSHNA board in months. :-)

  10. Anonymous says:

Not true, board shows ass and not speak truth. :-)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Cappy’s and the new Independant are in SSH. The new community garden is in SSH. No activity? No hooker activity, anyway. No backstabbing, just progress.

  12. Anonymous says:

Correct me if I am wrong, Cappys and the Independent are both a result of the Activity in OSH. The garden you can have.

The FIRST location for a community garden happens to be in SSH due to the generosity of the current landowner.

Sem Hts Community Gardens efforts are not officially connected to any of the three associations rather it is an umbrella effort for the neighborhoods of Seminole Heights to have community gardens move forward for all. The efforts aim to make the neighborhood just a little bit better for all. I think much like the intent of the SH Foundation.

Regarding the restaurants - it is through the combined efforts of all the associations efforts on many different fronts and fighting the battles with zoning and city council that the neighborhoods are viewed as a positive place to do business hence the growth of new restaurants in all areas of greater SH. Unfortunately, no one association has proven to be more adapt at drawing new neighborhood serving businesses into the area. This should be the start of something good moving forward.

Hopefully, SSH will pick up a free agent that OSHNA was idiot enuff to release…

JB sounds like a mature person.

  16. Anonymous says:

Did you say manure or mature? J/K!

#12 you have got to be kidding! Cappy’s located in SSH because of only OSH? Then why are they not in your much debated and restrictive Historic district? Or located on Central with all the other thriving businesses.
Pull you head out. Is the activity that you speak of the over barring and clickish efforts of OSH that keep most businesses out of OSH and force them to other SH neighborhoods. Time and time again OSH has proved unfriendly to businesses. Not the residents, but the hurdles and zoning restrictions placed on properties by a small group of narrow minded “historians.”
Sangria’s is still 6 months out and they have been working on approvals for over 2 years…
The laid back attitude of SSH is exactly what we need.

  18. Anonymous says:

Actually, most businesses, at this point in our development, locate in greater SH because of the availability of a building not a neighborhood association. Sangria’s has an extended build out/approval due to the change of use for the property, the PD rezoning of the property, the reduction of their parking requirements, request to relocate the dumpster, reduction of landscape requirements and also their request for a wet-zone.

Much like the dragging out of the opening of the Independant due to the wet-zone.

The local district and zoning issues have nothing to do with one another. Storm water, parking and property use changes have no relation to the historic district. So if you are going to troll then at least bait with accurate info…….

#18 - Such a good, informative and accurate post right up to the last sentence, when you couldn’t help yourself. Don’t you think providing accurate information is enough to counter baiting posts without having to slop in the mud along side with them? The name calling only creates further dissention. Surely that is not your intent.

#19, it’s so funny because I thought the very same thing! As a matter of fact I thought it was Randy commenting untill the last sentence. By the way, where did our dear Randy go?

  21. Anonymous says:

You are correct 19 and 20 and for that I apologize. It can be too easy to fall into the snarky, sniping pattern that so often dominates the conversations. Thanks for the comments and the call out.

That’s the difference between Randy and others giving out info - Randy is always First-Class and Professional and signs his name. OSHNA is very fortunate to have him on their side even if at times some don’t appreciate him.

As for Randy, residents of the Greater Seminole Heights, could not have a more dedicated, informed and open-minded person. Over the years I’ve watched him on neighborhood issues and I know how hard he works and how effective he has been. The amount of good that he has done for OSH and SH in general cannot be measured, likewise the amount of time he spends on neighborhood issues. In addition to being a tireless advocate for SH, Randy is a good person whose heart is in the right place and whose first thought is always “how can I improve the quality of life for residents of SH.” Although you may not always agree with him, he encourages debate as a form of activism w/the recc to volunteer and help effect change.
btw -When he posts on a topic, they make excellent Cliff-notes : )
