Does anyone know what happened to the new sport bar Greg’s Pub?

turns out that one of the OSHNA board members is named Greg, or has a friend named Greg, or had planned for years to use the name “Greg,”, or something like that. So they’ve hired attorneys to draft a cease-and-desist order against Greg’s Pub. Until such time as the name issue is resolved, we will have to go without a sports pub.

Can anayone get rid of idiots like #2. If you are going to be an ass, at least make it somewhat funny.

I’d like to see if anyone else out there in the Seminole Heights blog-o-sphere has ever thought about adding a dog park to the Henry and Ola Street park. It seems to me that we have a lot of neighbors walking there dogs around the park and there is more than enough space to add one. I have written a few folks in our community leadership and they said I should get together a list of people in the neighborhood that would be supportive of that and we coul dthen petition the park dept with the request. So, if you live near that park would you support this or am I the only one?

#5 - This was suggested several years ago, but the geometry of the park is such that the minimum required size for a dog park (per ordinance) would not fit, especially now with the soccer fields.

I also believe that the proximity to the river is a concern due to runoff from unscooped poop.

    # 2- I thought your comments were funny.

#4 - you need to relax and enjoy life a bit more!

As for services, there are a couple of things I’d like to be able to find closer to home:

A UPS Store type place for packaging and shipping.
A good old fashioned barber shop.
    A nice used book store.
    A sporting-goods/outdoor store.
    A pet supply store.
    Some additional banking choices.

And the planned restaurants to actually open :-)

I emailed the city just about this topic and the addition of tennis courts. They told me that the park couldn’t support either request due to the size requirements of the tennis courts and the health hazards of dog waste. However, they did say they are going to redo the Sulpher Springs park and would ask for our input on services for it. They said they would entertain a dog park there but due to the waste run off issues it would take a lot of community support to install one.

My thought is that we use find the money to purchase the house on the NWQ corner of Ola and Henry, the ugly ranch with the overgrown pool, bulldoze it and put a dog park play area there. Or the next community garden.

Yes, indeed to be a “dog park” requires a certain amount of space, but to be an “off leash park” does not. It’s all in the name. Look at Giddens park and look at that little park on the river near park circle for proof.

#2 I thought you were funny too, I laughed out loud.

#9 The barber shop, book store and grooming place were all there at one time on Central and Hanna. Seems like the landlord there always loses his tenants. I heard that at one point his tenants took him to court.

I notice that all quadrants of SH have their nice parks: W of Florida: Henry and Ola, Epps Park and River Crest park, East of Hillsborough: Giddens Park, North of Sligh, two little river parks…. but between Sligh and Hillsborough on the East side of Nebraska — nothing but a play field on 13th and Sligh…. it’s not a park where I can hang out…. instead I have to get in the car and drive to one.

#11 That little dog park near Park Circle is not an official use of the parcel. The dog owners in the area use it as one as it is fenced off but it truly does contaminate the river by its location.

#14 - The answer to the park you desire. Lake Roberta has the potential of a pocket park with some excavation and slight reconfiguration it could serve the community well. Stay tuned!

Lake Roberta Clean-up was tdy 6/27, how was the turnout?
& was there a goodly amount of debris? I rarely have weekends off, so good to see some weekdays on the schedule.

I was told by a neighbor who drove around the lake after 5PM yesterday there was soda & beer cans and snack wrappers floating in the lake. Sounds like the clean-up crew wasn’t able to get to that area.
