Why are you people concerned? Crime is down!

Another Ghetto rat with prior arrest for robbery and weapons charges. Maybe if the victims and citizens would start suing the judges that keep letting them out they might be a bit tougher. This guy was arrested in April for Robbery with firearm. What does it take to lock them up.

Sorry SESH, I will never bring my child to play in your park. This is the 2nd incident in 2 months!

    More SESH goodness!

Time for people in this area to start carrying their own guns and taking these ghetto rats off the streets when threatened by them. If the judges keep throwing them back out it is time to not expect the government to protect us and start doing it ourselves. When is enough enough?

I encourage everyone in the neighborhood to attend a concealed carry course and take actions to protect themselves and their families.

If this guy has had the prior arrest as number 2 states, does TPD actually go to the courts and judges to make sure that these prior crimes come into play when they sentence these criminals? If had been arrested with an armed robbery in April, How can he be on the streets so soon? Especially when he had two other prior robbery arrest.

re. #6 It’s not really up to TPD at this point, it’s up to the State Attorney’s Office to use his prior arrests against him. B/c he has robbery convictions it does make it a better chance he may do more time. If residents are serious, they should talk to the SAO and go to court. It helps when neighbors (not just victims) show up. I know people on the blog like to bash TPD, but honestly they do their part. It’s the SAO and the judges that we should really hammer more.

Whoo hoo let’s join the NRA too
Just what we need. Now if the thug doesn’t get you your odds will be higher that some pistol packing fool. Great future headline: “Gunshots ring through neighborhood as neighbors pull their concealed arms and give chase to a thug, numerous bystanders injured, some homes bullet riddled”

The data still shows you are much likely to be killed or injured in a robbery or burglary if you have a gun available “for your protection.”

While it may not be up to TPD at this point, it is still their responsibilities that the SAO has all the ammo they need to prosecute the case. The problem our city now has is no one wants to work or be held accountable.

Chief Hogue had made a mandate that all officers must be present at every court date. The same should apply to situations like this. A representative from TPD should be there to make sure the convictions stick.
If nothing else, it makes sure their work does not go down the drain.

Was TPD at the park when it occured? What every happened to getting the Park Patrol with the grant money that they had mentioned? Did that happen?

The patrol officer and about 5 parks & rec ppl had just left. Guess the perp was watching and waiting for the coast to be clear.

#2 you are right - take your kid to another park, say perhaps South Tampa where nothing bad happens there. Oh yeah, except for those rapists. Or how about Logan Gate, out near Citrus Park. Oh wait, a little boy was murdered there a few years ago. Never mind. Good luck with finding some part of this universe that doesn’t see it’s fare share of crime. When you find it, let us all know, would ya? In the meantime, quit acting as though SESH is the vortex of this planet where all criminals go. Certainly you weren’t one of MANY who enjoyed the park on Saturday. Sans bullet proof vests.

Great attitude 12. Let’s accept our gangs and guns as tolerable or ok since other parks have issues. God forbid we actually do something to better our neighborhood! BTW, I did enjoy icecream Saturday!

I think the point #12 is trying to make is that crime happens everywhere. Not just in SESH. But more importantly is the fact that we all become complacent and expect that others will do for us what we don’t want to be bothered to do ourselves. #13, it is not to accept crime in our parks, but the fact that we all need to band together to do something about it, rather than throw out insults about our neighborhood problems. I couldn’t attend, due to commitments out of town, but have heard it was a nicely organized event. Rather than complaining about our parks being unsafe, how many of you are actually devoting your time to help make it better? “God forbid we actually do something to better our neighborhood”. You are right! I’d like to know how many of you actually volunteered to get involved in crime watch, or have become involved in this new initiative headed up by Mr. Lasater?

Regarding the incident with the gun, it is truly sad that in this country where we profess to be so civilized, that this younger generation sees violence as a means to solve interpersonal issues. And trust me, this is a nationwide problem, not just here in SESH. So sadly, fighting the crime is only a [necessary] “band-aid”. The real cure is changing the mindset of a culture who see violence as the ultimate solution. –RS
